TRACES

Since 2014, I have been living on an island off the west coast of Florida. In my frequent walks on the shores of the Gulf of Mexico, I pick up natural and manmade detritus alike. During this meditative practice, I often wonder about the origin of the objects and how they became flotsam. Whether a shell that was once home to a mollusk or a doll shoe once adorning a child's toy, each one holds a story. Living at ground zero for sea level rise, I look ahead to a time when possessions and fragments of homes wash ashore with more frequency, and seek to address this future reality.
